Katza, co-fundador de PARALELOAN, es un DJ de Bilbao que lleva media vida explorando los márgenes de la música. Aunque hoy en día muchos lo relacionen con la música electrónica, comenzó tocando en grupos de punk de joven y eso es algo que se nota en sus sesiones. Apoyándose tanto en la música de club, el dub o las rarezas más DIY, Katza valora ante todo la inmediatez y la emoción en los sonidos que selecciona.

Katza, co-founder of PARALELOAN, is a DJ from Bilbao who has spent half his life exploring the margins of music. Although today many relate him to electronic music, he started playing in punk groups when he was young and that is something that is noticeable in his sessions. Un disco mágico. Lo compuso y grabó el portugués Nuno Canavarro en Cascais, en 1988. Jim O`Rourke lo escuchó años más tarde y tras enamorarse de él, lo reeditó en su sello Mokai en el 99. Es muy delicado, precioso; Son pequeñas suites, entre el ambient el glitch y el folk, y parecen interpretadas por un extraterrestre adolescente que aunque no sabe muy bien lo que hace, está "en la zona". A magical album. It was composed and recorded by the Portuguese Nuno Canavarro in Cascais, in 1988. ITEM #2 Días más largos que longanizas.
He leído este cómic mil veces y sigo preguntándome qué es lo que hace que me guste tanto. Es de Gabriel Corbera, que tiene más cosas por ahí que no he podido leer todavía. Dos hombres mazados intentan sobrevivir en una mazmorra, avanzando hacia la derecha de la página como si fuera un videojuego de plataformas. Es un poco como La Carretera de McCarthy pero en dungeoncore. Tiene momentos de una poética muy lírica y otros en cambio super absurdos, me encanta. Se me hace difícil hasta ponerle palabras, es una sensación muy concreta la que me produce hojearlo y siento que la pervierto al intentar hablar de él. Lo editó en 2016 Fulgencio Pimentel con una tapa preciosa.

I've read this comic a thousand times and I still wonder what makes me like it so much. It's by Gabriel Corbera, who has more things out there that I haven't been able to read yet. Two beaten men try to survive in a dungeon, moving towards the right of the page as if it were a platform video game. It's a bit like McCarthy's Highway but in dungeoncore. It has moments of very lyrical poetics and others that are super absurd, I love it. It is difficult for me to even put words to it, it is a very specific sensation that browsing it gives me and I feel that I am perverting it by trying to talk about it. It was published in 2016 by Fulgencio Pimentel with a beautiful cover.
ITEM #03 El Peregrino
J.A Baker estuvo 10 años (1956-1965) persiguiendo al halcón peregrino al este de Inglaterra, en una época en la que estaban en peligro de extinción. Los registros que tomó aparecen condensados en este libro, en forma de diario. El tío se mete tanto en la observación de la naturaleza que termina prácticamente fundiéndose en ella; Se obsesiona con el halcón, con su manera de cazar (es el animal más rápido del mundo cuando se tira en picado), y le persigue con su bici y sus catalejos hasta que la diferencia entre él y el halcón se va desdibujando progresivamente. Hace poco un amigo me comentó que en general todos los ornitólogos suelen estar bastante locos, aunque Baker no era ornitólogo, era el encargado de una asociación de automóviles (no sabía conducir, iba siempre en bici).

J.A Baker spent 10 years (1956-1965) chasing the peregrine falcon in eastern England, at a time when they were in danger of extinction. The records he took appear condensed in this book, in diary form. The guy gets so involved in observing nature that he ends up practically melting into it; He becomes obsessed with the falcon, with its way of hunting (it is the fastest animal in the world when it dives), and he chases it with his bike and his spyglasses until the difference between him and the falcon progressively blurs. A friend recently told me that in general all ornithologists tend to be quite crazy, although Baker was not an ornithologist, he was in charge of an automobile association (he didn't know how to drive, he always rode a bike).
ITEM #04 Queso Brillat-Savarin
La comida me gusta mucho y tenía que mencionar algo de esto. Os recomendaría una panadería (Cuadra) que hace el mejor pan sobao del mundo y pienso mucho en él, pero está en Nalda (La Rioja), demasiado concreto e inaccesible. Pero puedo recomendar un queso de Normandía que me encanta, el Brillat-Savarin. Lleva el nombre de uno de los gastrónomos más importantes de Francia, el que escribió el primer tratado de gastronomía. Es un queso triple-crème, que significa que tiene más de un 75% de materia grasa (!!!), casi como la mantequilla. Antes era bastante difícil encontrarlo aquí, pero hoy en día lo tienen casi todas las queserías buenas. Es de leche de vaca cruda y después le añaden crema, es lascivo. Ahora necesito combinar esto con el pan riojano (no lo he hecho nunca).

Elbis Rever son Natalia y Alba. Son de Bilbao y aunque lleven años sin vivir en la misma ciudad, siguen haciendo música, una música increíble. Llevan unos 15 años habitando un espacio extraño dentro de la escena experimental de Bilbao, explorando desde el pop temas como lo romántico, el deseo, la vulnerabilidad o la ciudad. Temas que aunque últimamente parece que sean la norma, ellas lo hicieron antes y ademas, creo que lo hacen desde otro lugar; hay una sinceridad purísima y escapan constantemente de esa distancia irónica tan de moda. Su ultimo disco, Happy Birthday, es una pasada, pero creo que la mejor manera de entrar en Elbis Rever es desde su canal de youtube, que está lleno (plagado incluso) de videoclips brillantes. Aprovechad un dia de resaca con el cerebro blandito y poneos (por ejemplo) la serie de baladas instrumentales MIDI Gitanica, o los collages de canciones Multitrak.
