There’s something so wound up and frustrated and vulnerable about the figures she paints that I find incredibly moving. I’ve seen exhibitions of her work in London and Berlin, and I have a print at home of her painting ‘Casually Cruel’ which is currently hanging at Tate Modern.
ITEM #2 Té Tailandés
Soy una nerd del té, cada vez que viajo me gusta llevarme a casa diferentes tipos de té para probar, especialmente de países asiáticos donde el té es un gran negocio. Hace poco traje de Tailandia una lata de “mezcla de té tailandés” y es un ganador: té rojo con un toque de vainilla dulce. Ojalá hubiera pillado algunas latas más mientras estuve allí.

I’m a tea nerd, whenever I travel I like to bring different types of tea home to try, particularly from asian countries where tea is a big deal. I brought back a tin of ’Thai tea mix’ from Thailand recently and it’s a winner - red tea with a hint of sweet vanilla. I wish I’d grabbed a few more tins while I was there.

Es ridículamente caro, pero me encanta el incienso Astier de Villatte: dura más y huele mejor que una vela elegante. Mi aroma favorito es Oulan Bator, la mejor manera en que puedo describirlo es que huele como el forro interior de la chaqueta de un hombre mayor y guapo: loción para después del afeitado descolorida, humo y cuero desgastado. ¡Delicioso!

It’s idiotically expensive but I love Astier de Villatte incense - and it lasts longer and smells better than a fancy candle. My favourite scent is Oulan Bator, the best way I can describe it is that it smells like the inside lining of a handsome older man’s jacket - faded aftershave, smoke and vintage worn-in leather.
